The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) reported recovering Rs2,452 billion in the second quarter of 2026, bringing the total recoveries for the first half of the year to Rs5,414 billion. This figure represents the highest ever six-month recovery recorded by the accountability agency.

Notably, NAB’s Sukkur office led the recovery efforts with the largest amount recovered. Meanwhile, NAB Balochistan reclaimed 209,544 acres of forest land, including valuable natural reserves such as Hingol National Park along the coastal highway, as well as land belonging to the Gwadar Industrial Estate Development Authority (GIEDA). The total value of these recoveries reached Rs604.64 billion.

In Karachi, NAB recovered 11,422 acres of state land that had been illegally allotted or leased under questionable circumstances to housing societies and individuals, with a valuation of Rs467.11 billion. Similarly, NAB Lahore secured 1,909 acres of land worth Rs288.29 billion, including property linked to the Pakistan Cement Bag Limited (PCBL) and other state lands.

Meanwhile, NAB Islamabad/Rawalpindi recovered 810 acres of land valued at Rs66.63 billion, related to Capital Development Authority (CDA) amenity plots across various housing societies.

In addition to land recoveries, NAB compensated over 24,365 victims of housing and financial fraud by returning their defrauded money and assets, totaling Rs42.303 billion. This demonstrates the bureau’s commitment to addressing public grievances and restoring assets lost to corrupt practices.
