Guide to Applying for Interest-Free Loans Under Punjab’s Housing Schemes

The Punjab government has introduced the Apni Chhat and Mehfooz Chhat programs to provide interest-free loans to eligible citizens for housing purposes. These initiatives aim to support low and middle-income families in securing affordable housing by easing financial burdens through zero-interest financing. Applicants must meet specific criteria and follow a structured application process to benefit from these schemes.

To apply, individuals need to submit required documentation, including proof of income, identification, and property details, through designated channels established by the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency. The programs emphasize transparency and accessibility, encouraging widespread participation to address the housing shortage in the region. Meanwhile, the government continues to promote these schemes as part of its broader social welfare and urban development agenda.

In a significant development for housing finance, these interest-free loan programs are expected to enhance homeownership rates and improve living standards across Punjab. By removing interest costs, the government aims to make housing more affordable and stimulate economic activity in the construction sector. The success of Apni Chhat and Mehfooz Chhat could serve as a model for similar initiatives in other provinces, reflecting a growing focus on inclusive housing policies in Pakistan.
