In Islamabad, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to evaluate the advancements in Pakistan’s mediation efforts aimed at establishing lasting peace in the region. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the recent developments in reducing regional tensions through Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives.

They highlighted the critical need to sustain the current momentum toward de-escalation and urged all involved parties to commit to peace by respecting the ceasefire agreements. The leadership praised the restraint exhibited by all sides, viewing it as a positive indicator for regional stability.

It was mutually agreed that Pakistan will continue to play a proactive and constructive role by facilitating dialogue and supporting peaceful negotiations among the concerned stakeholders. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif acknowledged the dedication of those engaged in the peace process and extended his best wishes for the success of ongoing efforts.

Furthermore, the prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s open invitation to delegations participating in the dialogue, assuring full cooperation. He emphasized that Pakistan would provide comprehensive support, including high-level hospitality, to ensure the negotiations’ success and help achieve a sustainable and peaceful resolution.

In a significant development, peace talks between Iran and the United States are anticipated to take place in Islamabad on Friday. Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf is expected to lead the Iranian negotiating team for discussions with U.S. Vice President JD Vance. While the U.S. has not yet confirmed the in-person talks, they are reportedly under consideration.
