Pakistan has granted visas to upwards of 2,800 Indian Sikh pilgrims in preparation for the annual Baisakhi festival, the Pakistani High Commission in New Delhi announced on Tuesday.

The visas were issued to enable devotees to participate in the religious festivities scheduled from April 10 to April 19. Baisakhi, which celebrates the harvest season and holds profound importance in Sikhism, draws thousands of pilgrims from across India each year.

In a significant development, the High Commission highlighted that these arrangements are designed to ensure a seamless and secure journey for the visitors, underscoring Pakistan’s commitment to fostering cross-border religious and cultural exchanges.

This year’s festival is anticipated to witness a large gathering as Sikh pilgrims assemble at historic gurdwaras in Pakistan to engage in prayers, processions, and communal events.

Meanwhile, the visa facilitation aligns with broader diplomatic efforts between Pakistan and India aimed at enhancing people-to-people connections, particularly through religious tourism and cultural cooperation.

Officials from the Pakistani High Commission confirmed that comprehensive measures are in place to provide the visiting pilgrims with convenient access, security, and support throughout their stay.
