Two held in Karachi for hiding hashish in slippers

Gadap police in Karachi have arrested two men accused of trafficking narcotics concealed in custom-built slippers, SSP Malir Dr. Abdul Khaliq Pirzada said on Tuesday.

The suspects, named as Saqib and Kamran, were allegedly moving hashish from Hub Chowki to Gadap. Each man was reportedly carrying about one kilogram of the drug, tucked into the layered soles of his footwear.

Coded messages and a suspected cobbler link

Investigators have also flagged the alleged role of a cobbler who reportedly fashioned the modified footwear. Pirzada added that the pair used coded wording to arrange their supplies.

Officers are now probing whether the men belong to a wider supply chain, searching for accomplices and reviewing their previous criminal records.

ANF seizes 3,825kg of narcotics in Kech

Earlier, the Anti-Narcotics Force recovered 3,825 kilograms of drugs during a raid on a suspected hideout in the Josak area of Kech district, Balochistan. An ANF spokesperson said the operation followed intelligence-based information.

The consignment included 2,454kg of hashish, 1,363kg of methamphetamine, known as ice, and 8kg of heroin. Valued at more than Rs560 million, the drugs were reportedly held at a compound before being sent abroad by sea.

The ANF said the narcotics had been smuggled into Pakistan from Afghanistan and were due to move overseas once the network issued a signal. The agency has stepped up efforts to identify and arrest traffickers and their facilitators, the spokesperson said.
