Islamabad High Court Issues Notices on Imran Khan’s Hospital Transfer Petition

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has taken a significant step by issuing notices in response to a petition filed for the transfer of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan to Shifa Hospital for his medical treatment. This development comes amid growing concerns over his health and the adequacy of medical facilities available to him in his current location. The petition was heard by a bench comprising Justices Arbab Muhammad Tahir and Khadim Hussain Somro, who carefully considered the arguments presented.

During the proceedings, the court heard objections raised by the Registrar Office, which added a layer of complexity to the case. The hearing saw the presence of several prominent senior lawyers, including Latif Khosa and Salman Akram Raja, among others, who represented various interests in the matter. Latif Khosa, in particular, urged the court to expedite the hearing related to the hospital transfer request by scheduling it for the very next day, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir responded by explaining that the preparation of the paper book, which contains all relevant documents and evidence, would require two to three days. He highlighted that notices had already been issued to the state authorities concerning the transfer petition, signaling the court’s intent to proceed with due diligence. The bench also informed the legal teams that the central appeal connected to this matter would be placed on the court’s agenda for the following week, urging all parties to come fully prepared for a comprehensive hearing.

In addition to the hospital transfer petition, the court addressed another high-profile legal matter by setting the date for the hearing of the Toshakhana criminal case. The bench scheduled this hearing for March 10, indicating the court’s commitment to managing multiple critical cases involving prominent political figures efficiently. The Toshakhana case, which has attracted considerable public and media attention, will now proceed alongside the ongoing health-related legal proceedings involving Imran Khan.

This series of judicial actions reflects the Islamabad High Court’s proactive stance in handling sensitive cases that have significant political and social implications. The court’s decisions in the coming weeks are expected to have a considerable impact on the legal and political landscape, especially as they pertain to the health and legal challenges faced by one of Pakistan’s most influential political leaders.
