In a robust and strategic counteroffensive against unprovoked attacks along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, the Pakistan Army has initiated Operation Ghazb-Lil-Haq. This operation marks a significant and resolute effort to dismantle militant strongholds linked to the Afghan Taliban regime, underscoring Pakistan’s steadfast dedication to safeguarding its territorial sovereignty and national security.

The conflict escalated when Afghan Taliban forces opened fire without provocation at several points along the border in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Pakistani security personnel responded swiftly and with coordinated precision, launching a well-planned military operation designed to neutralize the threat and restore stability to the region. The professionalism and tactical expertise demonstrated by the armed forces played a crucial role in the rapid containment of the hostile actions.

Early on the morning of February 27, 2026, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar provided an update on the operation’s progress, highlighting its decisive nature. He described the military’s response as measured yet powerful, aimed squarely at countering the aggression initiated by the Afghan Taliban. The minister confirmed that 133 militants affiliated with the Taliban regime have been killed, with over 200 others wounded in the ongoing engagements. He also revealed that key Taliban defense installations in Kabul, Paktia, and Kandahar had been targeted, with further enemy casualties anticipated as operations continue.

Minister Tarar elaborated on the operational achievements, stating that Pakistani forces have successfully destroyed 27 Taliban posts and captured an additional nine. The offensive has struck a severe blow to the Taliban’s command and logistical capabilities, with the destruction of two corps headquarters, three brigade headquarters, two ammunition depots, one logistics base, three battalion headquarters, and two sector headquarters. Furthermore, the Pakistani military has neutralized more than 80 tanks, artillery pieces, and armored personnel carriers, significantly crippling the Taliban’s operational strength along the border.

Despite these successes, the minister emphasized that the operation is ongoing and far from complete. Pakistani forces remain vigilant and fully prepared to defend every inch of the country’s frontier against any further incursions. The military’s resolve to maintain national security and territorial integrity remains unwavering as counterattacks continue across multiple sectors.

Military officials have confirmed that the operation has resulted in the elimination of 133 militants and injuries to more than 200 others. The destruction of 27 Taliban posts and the capture of nine more represent a major tactical victory. Additionally, over 36 enemy tanks, numerous artillery guns, and armored personnel carriers have been destroyed, delivering a significant setback to the Taliban’s combat capabilities.

In the Chitral sector, Pakistani forces executed a precise strike that obliterated a Taliban checkpoint, while several militant hideouts were also neutralized. These actions forced the attackers into retreat, inflicting heavy losses and demonstrating the effectiveness of Pakistan’s defensive strategy. Similar strong responses were observed in other sectors, reflecting the military’s high level of readiness and operational superiority.

The provocations by Afghan Taliban forces were not isolated to one area but spanned multiple border regions, including Nawagai in Bajaur, Tirah in Khyber, Mohmand district, Kurram, and the Arandu sector. Pakistani troops responded decisively to each incursion, with two Afghan posts destroyed in the Bajaur region alone. This widespread and coordinated retaliation highlights Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining control and security along its borders.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, with reinforcements deployed to key locations. Officials have made it clear that any future acts of aggression will be met with an even stronger and more forceful response, signaling zero tolerance for violations of Pakistan’s sovereignty.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Information condemned the Afghan Taliban’s unprovoked attacks, stating that the regime had gravely miscalculated Pakistan’s readiness and resolve. The statement underscored that Pakistani security forces are responding effectively, inflicting substantial losses on hostile elements across Chitral, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram, and Bajaur. It reaffirmed that the defense of Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity remains non-negotiable, with no compromises to national security being entertained.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry strongly denounced the Afghan Taliban’s actions, reiterating Pakistan’s preference for peaceful dialogue but warning that the state will not hesitate to employ its full power to maintain peace and protect its citizens. He emphasized that Pakistan will not allow anyone to disrupt the country’s peace and stability. Chaudhry also criticized the Afghan regime’s policies, questioning the morality of a state that turns its children into guerrilla fighters, while affirming Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to regional stability and responsible governance.

Security officials highlighted the unity and preparedness of Pakistan’s armed forces, who stand ready to defend every inch of the homeland. The bravery and professionalism displayed by the military continue to be a cornerstone of Pakistan’s border security. Operation Ghazb-Lil-Haq sends a clear and unequivocal message: Pakistan will not tolerate any form of aggression, and any threat to its sovereignty will be met with overwhelming and decisive force.
