CNF Punjab Busts Drug Network, Seizes 475kg Narcotics Worth Rs78 Million

The Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) Punjab has successfully dismantled a well-organized drug trafficking network, recovering a substantial quantity of narcotics valued at approximately Rs78 million during two intelligence-driven operations.

Authorities seized a total of 475 kilograms of illegal substances in targeted raids conducted near Lal Suhanra National Park in Bahawalpur and at Shakir Morr in Vehari. The confiscated drugs comprised 382 kilograms of hashish, 92 kilograms of opium, and one kilogram of methamphetamine, commonly referred to as ‘ice’.

In a significant development, CNF teams acted on precise intelligence about the movement of large drug consignments intended for local and inter-provincial distribution. The first operation took place near the outer boundary of Lal Suhanra National Park, a critical transit corridor, while the second raid intercepted a vehicle at Shakir Morr, Vehari, effectively preventing the narcotics from reaching urban markets.

During these operations, two suspects, including a woman, were apprehended on the spot. Investigations are ongoing to determine their specific roles within the trafficking network. Cases have been registered under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, with further efforts underway to identify upstream suppliers and downstream facilitators involved in the network.

Meanwhile, security measures have been intensified across Punjab, with additional checkpoints established to curb the circulation of both synthetic and traditional drugs throughout the province.
