Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah has invited China’s Shanghai Electric business group to invest in energy, water and environmental technologies. He made the offer during a meeting with senior officials of the group while visiting China.
Shah highlighted investment opportunities in solar and wind energy. “We will welcome the Chinese expertise and investment in clean energy projects,” the chief minister said.
Shanghai Electric’s desalination technology draws interest
The chief minister expressed special interest in the company’s desalination technology after a briefing on its water projects. Company officials said a Shanghai Electric desalination plant in China’s Hebei province purifies 75,000 tons of water daily.
The chief minister also noted that the Hebei project includes a multi-effect distillation (MED) plant that cleans 25,000 tons daily.
Karachi and coastal areas could benefit from projects
Shah said desalination projects could be effective in Karachi and other coastal areas of Sindh that face water shortages. He invited the group to bring modern desalination solutions to the province.
“Clean energy, desalination, and modern technologies could assist in sustainable development,” he added.
