US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner will take part in talks in Oslo on Tuesday, Norway’s government said. The discussions will also involve Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and the leaders of Norway and Finland.
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said in a statement that Ukraine had asked for the two envoys to join the meetings. He said he was pleased they would be able to take part.
Witkoff to attend in person, Kushner remotely
Norway said Witkoff will travel to Oslo for the talks, while Kushner will join remotely. Store and Finnish President Alexander Stubb will also take part in the discussions.
Store said the aim is to move diplomatic efforts onto a more productive track. He noted that earlier diplomatic work had taken place in several countries, and that Norway and Finland were glad to keep that work going.
Zelensky’s Oslo itinerary and Witkoff’s next stop
During his visit, Zelensky will also meet Norway’s king and visit parliament. Separately, a report citing an anonymous US official said Witkoff would then travel to Russia, where he hopes to meet with President Vladimir Putin and present ideas.
The White House did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation.
