Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has responded to US President Donald Trump’s threat to “finish the job” against Tehran, warning Washington against military confrontation. Araghchi also accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of pushing the United States into a war for his own political survival.
Writing on X, Araghchi said that when Washington last wanted to “finish the job”, Iran emerged stronger. He invited the US to try again, but warned that Iran also had “unfinished jobs” of its own.
Araghchi accuses Netanyahu of driving US toward war
Araghchi claimed that Netanyahu was trying to draw Washington into another conflict to avoid legal consequences in Israel, and he warned of serious repercussions. He wrote that Netanyahu was “driving America into another war to stay out of jail, whatever the consequences for Israel — let alone POTUS.”
The exchange follows Trump’s endorsement of Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s October 27 parliamentary election, which Trump posted on Truth Social. He praised Netanyahu as a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and a vital partner for peace, and warned that the US could act on its own if Israeli voters chose a different leader.
Trump says Iran has been systematically weakened
Trump argued that Iran had been systematically weakened, both militarily and financially. He said that unless Tehran changed its ways rapidly, Washington would soon “finish the job”. He pointed to Iran’s 51-year-old chant of “Death to Israel, Death to America!” and wrote that it would have been only a matter of time before Tehran acted on that phrase.
