The United States has withdrawn its B-1 bombers from the RAF Fairford air base in the United Kingdom, following the arrest of several men suspected of planning terrorist activities at the facility. The base, situated northwest of London, had hosted a dozen B-1 bombers used in US strikes against Iran.

A Pentagon spokesperson confirmed that all US bombers previously deployed at RAF Fairford have now returned to their home stations in the United States, citing operational security as the reason for not disclosing the movements in real time.

In a significant development, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham revealed that authorities possess strong evidence suggesting Iran’s involvement in the alleged plot targeting the air base. Tehran, however, dismissed these accusations as unfounded and summoned the British ambassador to express its objections.

Earlier reports indicated that the aircraft’s removal was prompted by security concerns linked to the suspected terror plans. The British government had permitted the US to operate bombers from Fairford to conduct strikes on Iranian missile sites responsible for attacks on vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

US President Donald Trump stated that those implicated in the plot intended to cause “big damage,” while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio attributed the scheme to the “hands of a foreign actor.” This sequence of events underscores heightened tensions and security measures surrounding the base amid ongoing geopolitical conflicts.
