Islamabad: Police and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) have linked Police Helpline 15 with the NCCIA, a joint step aimed at preventing cybercrime. All complaints received on Helpline 15 will now be transferred directly to the NCCIA.
The NCCIA’s Director General said the Helpline 15 systems of police forces across all provinces and major cities have been integrated with the agency’s system. Cybercrime complaints will be forwarded automatically to the relevant NCCIA zone.
How the new complaint system will work
The relevant zone will take immediate legal action once it receives a complaint. Citizens can register complaints through the nearby emergency 15 system.
Expected impact on cyber harassment and fraud
The initiative is meant to make it easier for the public to file complaints and to improve coordination between police and the NCCIA. Speedier action is expected against cyber harassment, online fraud and data theft.
