A leaker known as Cyberleek has threatened to release the full story mode of Grand Theft Auto 6 if its personal memecoin reaches a $30 million market cap, according to a warning posted on the leaker’s official website. The leaker says the release would include the entire game played through to the end credits.
Alongside the cryptocurrency demand, Cyberleek wants Take-Two Interactive to promise a physical disc version and issue a public apology to stop the leaks. It remains unclear whether the hacker plans to release a playable version or only a full video playthrough.
Fans and experts question the motives behind the demands
Many fans and cybersecurity experts believe the physical disc request is a cover for a cryptocurrency scam. The memecoin’s market cap is now around $3.8 million, after briefly reaching $5.7 million when the threat spread on social media. Blockchain analysis from late August indicates about $270,000 has already been taken out of the scheme.
The website also lists lower targets for further footage. Clips of co-protagonist Lucia in revealing scenes are promised at $2 million and $4 million, and a live poll lets fans use the coin to vote on what gets leaked next.
Leaker returns with 24-minute gameplay video
The hacker went silent in August, which led Take-Two to launch a federal investigation and send subpoenas to Discord. This week the leaker returned with a 24-minute gameplay video showing key story moments, a new first-person camera mode, and nude scenes featuring the main characters Jason and Lucia.
An earlier clip showed the word “LEEK” shot into an in-game wall, suggesting the hacker has access to a full developer build. It is still not known how the confidential material was taken from Rockstar’s secure development environment.
Rockstar keeps November 19 release date
Rockstar has called the leaks “heartbreaking” for its team, but the studio still plans to launch the game on November 19. Spoiler-wary players may want to stay off social media as the release date approaches.
