On Friday, numerous users encountered difficulties accessing both the Instagram and Facebook platforms via their mobile apps and websites. Outage monitoring services recorded a significant increase in user complaints, particularly around mid-morning, indicating intermittent connectivity problems affecting a segment of users.
Platforms tracking service disruptions, including Downdetector and StatusGator, logged dozens of reports within a short timeframe. Downdetector even briefly displayed an error message on Instagram’s status page, while StatusGator noted a rise in complaints over the previous 24 hours. However, both StatusGator’s Meta dashboard and Meta’s dedicated status pages reported that the services were largely functioning normally despite these user-reported issues.
Meta has yet to officially confirm any widespread outage impacting Instagram or Facebook. It remains uncertain how many users were affected or if the problems were isolated to particular regions, device types, or app versions. The root cause of the disruption has not been determined.
Users experiencing trouble are encouraged to try standard troubleshooting methods such as switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, restarting the app, using a different device, or refreshing the website. If difficulties continue, waiting for the services to stabilize or consulting official status pages for updates is advisable.
