PCB Moves President’s Trophy Matches Out of Peshawar, Abbottabad

The Pakistan Cricket Board has rescheduled two sixth-round matches in the President’s Trophy Grade-I, shifting them out of Peshawar and Abbottabad because of the political situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The games will now be played in Sheikhupura and Lahore instead. The first-class competition has so far been held in four cities.

Under the revised timetable, Ghani Glass against Kingsmen Academy will leave the Imran Khan Stadium in Peshawar for the Rana Naveed Cricket Academy in Sheikhupura. That four-day contest is set for October 14 to 17. Meanwhile, the SNGPL and OGDCL fixture, originally pencilled in for the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, will take place at the Lahore City Cricket Association Ground over the same dates. The board announced the changes in the revised schedule.

Venue changes and final-round timing

The board also delayed the start of the league stage’s last round by one day, to October 19. The sixth round is the second-last phase of the event, and the teams are fighting for a place in the final.

Format, qualification and current standings

Eight departmental sides play a single round-robin, with each team taking part in seven league matches. The two highest-placed teams after the league phase will reach the final, though no venue has yet been confirmed for the decider.

State Bank of Pakistan leads the table on 84 points, ahead of Ghani Glass on 70. Kingsmen Academy, on 66, remain in the hunt, while Pakistan Television sits just behind them on 64 points.
