Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, said on Monday that Pakistan remains committed to building up its defence relationship with Brazil. He made the remarks at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi while receiving a senior Brazilian military delegation, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The visiting group was headed by Admiral Renato Rodrigues De Aguiar Freire, who leads the joint staff of Brazil’s armed forces. He was greeted with a guard of honour supplied by a tri-services contingent, the ISPR said.
Talks focus on regional security and military cooperation
During the discussions, both sides reviewed issues of shared interest, the security situation across the region and ways to expand bilateral defence and security links, the military’s media wing said in a press release. The two parties praised the long-standing friendly relations between Pakistan and Brazil and agreed to take military collaboration further.
Munir stressed the importance of closer bilateral military work, the ISPR said. He reiterated Pakistan’s intention to deepen its defence partnership with Brazil.
Visitor praises Pakistan’s forces and regional role
Admiral Freire commended the professionalism and operational readiness of Pakistan’s armed forces. He also acknowledged their contributions to peace and stability in the region.
The military described the visit as a sign of both countries’ shared determination to expand defence cooperation and boost their military links.
