Punjab to Launch E-Marking System for Matric Exams Starting 2027

The Punjab government has resolved to implement an electronic marking system for matriculation exam papers beginning next year, aiming to enhance transparency, precision, and consistency in the evaluation process. This announcement was made by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat during a ceremony honoring matriculation position holders.

The minister highlighted that the provincial administration is accelerating the digital transformation of education boards by replacing the traditional manual paper-checking method with a screen-based evaluation system starting from the upcoming academic session. Each answer sheet will be assigned a unique QR code to facilitate digital assessment.

Rana Sikandar emphasized that the e-marking initiative is designed to ensure improved transparency, uniformity, and accuracy in grading while minimizing human error. Additionally, the government plans to reinforce the centralized paper-checking system to further enhance the overall examination framework.

As part of these digital reforms, students will no longer be required to obtain physical copies of their result cards. Instead, matriculation students can download their results online, and those enrolled in private schools will access their results through their respective institutions’ online portals.

The digital result cards will feature e-stamps for verification purposes, removing the need for separate attestation or authentication processes. Furthermore, students will be able to request rechecking of their examination papers via QR codes, streamlining the process and increasing transparency.

In a significant development, the Punjab government has also introduced an AI-powered chatbot to assist students by providing information and guidance related to examinations, results, and other academic concerns.

These latest measures form part of the provincial government’s broader strategy to modernize Punjab’s examination system by integrating advanced digital technologies and improving service delivery for students.
