Deputy PM Ishaq Dar Travels to Saudi Arabia for OIC Summit on Israel’s West Bank Policies

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar embarked on a significant diplomatic mission to Saudi Arabia on Thursday. His three-day visit to Jeddah is centered around attending the Open-Ended Extraordinary Ministerial Session of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is scheduled to take place at the OIC General Secretariat. This high-level meeting has been convened to deliberate on the recent illegal measures taken by Israeli authorities in the Occupied West Bank, a topic of grave concern for the Muslim world.

The session aims to address Israel’s ongoing efforts to expand settlements, enforce annexation policies, and assert sovereignty over territories in the West Bank, actions widely condemned by the international community. These developments have heightened tensions in the region, prompting the OIC to respond collectively. Senator Ishaq Dar is expected to present Pakistan’s firm stance against these violations, emphasizing Islamabad’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and the rights of the Palestinian people.

In addition to his participation in the plenary discussions, Deputy Prime Minister Dar will engage in a series of bilateral meetings with foreign ministers and senior officials from various OIC member states. These interactions are crucial for strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic ties and coordinating a unified approach to counter Israel’s illegal policies. The meetings will also provide a platform to discuss broader regional security issues and explore avenues for enhanced cooperation among Muslim nations.

It is worth noting that Pakistan has consistently condemned Israel’s settlement expansions and annexation attempts, viewing them as violations of international law and obstacles to achieving a just and lasting peace in the Middle East. The OIC’s extraordinary session in Jeddah reflects the urgency felt by Muslim countries to address these challenges collectively. Deputy Prime Minister Dar’s active role underscores Pakistan’s commitment to playing a proactive part in international forums advocating for Palestinian rights.

As the session unfolds, the outcomes are expected to shape the OIC’s future policy directions and diplomatic initiatives concerning the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Pakistan’s delegation, led by Senator Ishaq Dar, will contribute to formulating strategies aimed at pressuring Israel to halt its illegal activities and resume meaningful dialogue towards peace. This visit also highlights Pakistan’s broader foreign policy objectives of promoting justice and stability in the Muslim world through multilateral engagement.
