The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Islamabad on Tuesday transferred recovered assets valued at more than Rs4.1 billion to the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) in connection with a significant embezzlement case involving the authority’s departmental funds.

A formal ceremony took place at NAB Islamabad, where Director General Waqar Ahmad Chauhan officially handed over the recovered proceeds, which included Call Deposit Receipts (CDRs) and immovable properties, to representatives of the RDA.

The case revolves around the misappropriation of RDA’s departmental funds through the issuance of 321 fraudulent CDRs. Following an extensive investigation, NAB managed to recover Rs1.75 billion through plea bargains, settlements, and other recoveries. Additionally, 31 immovable properties valued at around Rs2.3 billion were frozen, and a receiver has been appointed to manage these assets.

This recovery was achieved under the close supervision and dedicated efforts of the DG NAB, who commended the team’s exceptional performance. He emphasized that recovering and restoring public assets remains a top priority for the bureau.

Meanwhile, a reference against the accused individuals is expected to be filed soon in the accountability court in Rawalpindi. Efforts to recover the remaining amount are ongoing.
