PM Shehbaz Directs Wheat Supply to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Through PASSCO

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued directives to facilitate the supply of wheat to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) through the Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO). This move aims to address the region’s food security concerns by ensuring a steady and reliable distribution of wheat. PASSCO, being a government entity responsible for the procurement and storage of essential commodities, plays a critical role in stabilizing the wheat market across Pakistan.

In a significant development, the decision highlights the federal government’s commitment to supporting KP amid fluctuating wheat availability and price volatility. Wheat is a staple food in Pakistan, and its consistent supply is vital for both consumer welfare and inflation control. By channeling supplies through PASSCO, the government seeks to streamline logistics and prevent shortages in the province.

Meanwhile, this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on local markets by curbing black-market activities and ensuring fair pricing for consumers. It also reflects broader efforts by the administration to strengthen food distribution networks nationwide. The directive underscores the importance of coordinated federal-provincial collaboration in managing essential commodity supplies during challenging economic times.
