ISLAMABAD: British High Commissioner Jane Marriott met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday to discuss the shifting regional dynamics and ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at easing tensions, the foreign ministry stated.
During the meeting, Dar highlighted Pakistan’s continuous efforts to facilitate dialogue among the involved parties, emphasizing the critical role of diplomacy in peacefully resolving conflicts.
This discussion took place amid heightened regional diplomatic activity focused on maintaining a delicate ceasefire and encouraging negotiations between major international actors.
Notably, the British envoy expressed strong support for Pakistan’s facilitative role in bringing the United States and Iran to the negotiation table. Marriott conveyed her appreciation by stating, “Thank you DPM Dar and Pakistan for your ceaseless drive and continued efforts to resolve global challenges.”
In recent weeks, Pakistan has actively sought to establish itself as a mediator in regional disputes, advocating for sustained diplomatic engagement to prevent further escalation of tensions.
