TTAP Rejects Rift Claims with Imran Khan’s Family, Affirms Strong Alliance

The Tehreek Tahaffuz Aiyeen-e-Pakistan (TTAP) firmly dismissed any reports of disagreements with the family of imprisoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan on Friday. Addressing recent media speculation, TTAP spokesperson Akhunzada Hussain emphasized that the former prime minister’s family has always been highly respected and that the alliance remains grounded in trust, sincerity, and mutual regard.

Hussain highlighted that TTAP leaders Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas hold Imran Khan’s family in great esteem. He also noted that Imran’s sisters, especially Aleema Khanum, have been vocal about their brother’s health and the necessity for transparent and prompt hearings of his legal cases.

In a recent interview, Aleema Khan sharply criticized PTI’s leadership, including the chairman and secretary general, accusing them of insufficient efforts regarding the PTI protest movement and her brother’s wellbeing. She also strongly opposed the postponement of the party’s public gathering originally scheduled for April 9, the anniversary of the no-confidence vote that ousted the PTI government in 2022.

Responding to Aleema’s remarks, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja rejected her accusations, clarifying that he never sought the party’s leadership position and had offered his resignation to the incarcerated Imran Khan once again. He defended the decision to delay the public meeting, citing national interest due to the arrival of important delegations from Iran and the United States. Salman Akram further stated that the PTI political committee’s decision had been approved by Imran Khan himself.

TTAP’s spokesperson reiterated that explanations for the leadership’s absence at the meeting were already provided in detail and need not be repeated. He condemned media narratives linking the opposition alliance’s non-participation to Aleema Khanum as baseless and unfortunate.

In a significant development, Hussain asserted that such fabricated reports aim to create a false impression of discord between Imran Khan’s family and the opposition alliance. However, he stressed that these attempts will fail, affirming that the alliance remains strong and united on the foundation of mutual respect.
