The Sindh government has officially declared a public holiday on Jumma-tul-Wida, which marks the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan. This announcement aims to provide citizens with the opportunity to fully participate in the spiritual gatherings and special prayers that are traditionally observed on this significant day. The decision reflects the provincial administration’s recognition of the religious importance of Jumma-tul-Wida for the Muslim community.

In a video statement, Sindh Minister Nasir Hussain Shah elaborated on the rationale behind the holiday, emphasizing the government’s commitment to facilitating religious observances. He highlighted that the holiday would allow people from all walks of life to join congregational prayers and attend mosque events without the constraints of work commitments. This move is expected to foster greater communal harmony and spiritual reflection during the concluding days of Ramadan.

Alongside the holiday announcement, Minister Shah revealed plans to rename a prominent road in Karachi in honor of Iran’s late Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei. This gesture signifies the province’s respect and acknowledgment of the late leader’s influence and legacy. The exact location and timeline for the renaming ceremony are yet to be disclosed, but it is anticipated to become a notable landmark in the city.

Turning to the upcoming religious processions, the minister reminded all Shia organizations to adhere strictly to their traditional routes. He underscored that no rallies or processions will be permitted on Shahrah-e-Faisal, in compliance with existing court orders aimed at maintaining public order and traffic flow. This advisory is intended to ensure peaceful observance of religious events while minimizing disruption to the city’s daily activities.

In a separate but related development, the Sindh government has introduced a significant change to the working schedule of public offices by implementing a four-day workweek. Government departments will now operate from Monday through Thursday, designating Friday, Saturday, and Sunday as official holidays. Officials have explained that this adjustment is part of a broader strategy to reduce operational costs and enhance the efficiency of public service delivery.

Moreover, the administration has announced plans to cut fuel consumption for official vehicles by 50 percent. This measure is designed to contribute to overall savings while ensuring that essential government functions continue without interruption. The fuel reduction initiative aligns with the government’s ongoing efforts to optimize resource utilization amid economic challenges.

These combined steps reflect the Sindh government’s proactive approach to balancing religious observance, administrative reforms, and fiscal prudence. As the province moves forward with these changes, citizens and officials alike are expected to adapt to the new schedules and guidelines, fostering a more efficient and respectful public environment.
