Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) announced temporary traffic diversions at several points along the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway while cricket teams travel through the federal capital. The advisory was issued on Saturday.
An ITP official said traffic on Srinagar Highway will be diverted at different locations between Serena Chowk and Ninth Avenue.
Alternative routes for Srinagar Highway and Koral traffic
Motorists on Srinagar Highway have been asked to use Suhrawardy Road, G-8 Service Road and G-9 Service Road. Traffic bound for Zero Point and Faizabad should take Faisal Avenue, while those heading to Ninth Avenue should use Service Road East.
Commuters travelling from Koral towards Islamabad were advised to use Old Airport Road, Rawal Road, Murree Road, IJP Road and Faqir Aipee Road. If Koral Expressway, Murree Road or Club Road are closed, Lehtrar Road and Park Road can be used instead.
People leaving Islamabad were told to use Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road, while those coming from Bhara Kahu should take Bani Gala Road and Park Road.
Possible congestion and extra travel time advised
The official warned that congestion was likely on major roads during the diversions. Motorists were advised to allow an additional 20 to 25 minutes for their journeys.
ITP personnel will remain deployed at various locations to guide commuters and keep traffic moving, the official added.
