The Lahore High Court (LHC) has directed authorities to publish the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) question papers and their codes on the official website. The court ruled on Saturday that the papers must stay online until admissions are finalised.
Justice Ahsan Raza Kazmi issued the order while hearing petitions filed by Noshaab A Khan and others about the examination. The court said that removing the papers would make it harder for students to lodge objections, and that doing so would go against principles of transparency.
Sindh MDCAT credibility concerns and official inquiry
The ruling follows growing doubts about the credibility and transparency of the MDCAT in Sindh, a major entrance test for students seeking places in medical and dental colleges across Pakistan. The federal government contacted the Sindh government over complaints about the examination and called for an independent and transparent inquiry.
The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) also wrote to Sindh’s health minister, asking the provincial government to investigate allegations linked to the test. The Sindh government has been directed to complete the inquiry and submit a report within two weeks.
Social media leak claims and lawmakers’ worries
The developments came after social media posts alleged that the MDCAT question paper had been leaked. Lawmakers have also raised concerns about the test’s credibility and transparency.
