Pakistani security forces killed one militant in an intelligence-based operation in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to security sources who spoke on Monday. Separately, a Counter Terrorism Department operation in Balochistan on Saturday left at least 10 militants dead.
Bannu action targets a Fitna al-Khawarij member
The sources said the action was part of continuing counterterrorism work under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework and rested on credible information linking the target to Fitna al-Khawarij. They added that surveillance of the group’s movements in the area remains tight to prevent attacks, and that ongoing operations are weakening militant networks.
The sources also said security forces are determined to remove terrorism from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and that operations will continue until the last militant is eliminated.
CTD operation in Barkhan leaves 10 militants dead
A Counter Terrorism Department spokesperson said at least 10 members of Fitna al-Hindustan were killed on Saturday in an intelligence-driven operation in Barkhan district. The action, carried out under Operation Radd-ul-Fitna 3 in the Rarasham Valley, followed credible information that militants were present there.
Large quantities of weapons and ammunition were recovered from the dead, the department said, and two CTD personnel were wounded. The spokesperson added that police and CTD staff would keep countering terrorism in Balochistan.
