Punjab schools open Monday as fake holiday notice is debunked

Educational institutions across Punjab will operate as normal on Monday, October 12, the provincial education department said. It dismissed a closure notice circulating on social media as fake.

Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, by contrast, have ordered shutdowns in selected districts rather than across the whole province, and the board of examinations has postponed some exams.

Punjab education departments reject fake closure notices

A spokesperson for the Punjab School Education Department said no decision had been made to close schools anywhere in the province. He urged residents not to trust the misleading notice.

The Punjab Higher Education Department separately rejected a fake notice claiming public and private colleges and universities would be shut on Monday. It confirmed that those institutions would function normally.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa districts order multi-day closures

In Peshawar, every public and private educational institution will be closed on Monday, according to an official announcement issued on Sunday. In Malakand district, schools and colleges in both sectors will shut for two days, according to a notification.

In Lower Dir, the district administration said that schools, colleges and universities in the public and private sectors will be closed on October 12 and 13. These district-level measures come amid heightened security concerns in parts of the province.

Bannu and Malakand boards postpone SSC Annual-II papers

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Bannu has postponed all Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Annual-II papers scheduled for Monday until further orders. It said revised dates would be announced later.

BISE Malakand has also deferred its SSC Annual-II 2026 examination papers until further notice, according to an announcement on its official website.
