According to reports, the suspect promised her a US visa and a scholarship in return for the money. The Deputy Inspector General of Operations confirmed the arrest, and Noman is being questioned.
Federal agency registers case against two suspects
The Federal Investigation Agency has registered a case against Noman and his alleged accomplice, Fatima Sarwar. The first information report accuses the pair of using forged scholarship papers and university admission offer letters to mislead the student and her family.
How the Rs9.3 million was allegedly paid
The FIR states that Rs2.9 million was transferred from Laiba Ijaz’s bank account, while the rest was handed over in cash. The document also states that Ejaz died by suicide after the alleged fraud and the psychological distress that followed.
