Kuwait Extends Online Learning Across All Educational Levels to Safeguard Students

The Ministry of Education in Kuwait has officially declared that all educational institutions will continue with distance learning until further updates are provided. This directive encompasses every educational tier and system, including general education, religious schools, private institutions, and evening classes. The decision reflects the ministry’s ongoing commitment to protect the health and well-being of students and staff during these uncertain times.

To facilitate this extended period of remote education, classes will be conducted through the Microsoft Teams platform, ensuring that students can maintain their academic progress without interruption. The ministry has emphasized that it is actively monitoring the evolving situation and remains in close coordination with relevant authorities to assess any changes. Future decisions regarding the resumption of in-person classes will be made based on the latest data and health advisories.

In a recent statement, Hamad Al-Hamad, the Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs, reiterated the ministry’s dedication to safeguarding both students and educational personnel. He highlighted that the continuation of distance learning is a precautionary measure designed to minimize health risks. Additionally, Al-Hamad provided details about the structure of the remote classes, noting that each session will last 25 minutes. The school day will commence at 9:30 a.m., aligning with the Ramadan schedule that has been officially approved for this period.

It is important to note that the Ministry of Education has assured the public that any new policies or adjustments will be communicated exclusively through official channels and authorized websites, ensuring accurate and reliable information dissemination. This approach aims to prevent misinformation and keep parents, students, and educators well-informed.

Moreover, the ministry confirmed that higher education institutions, including Kuwait University and Abdullah Al-Salem University, will continue to operate remotely under similar safety protocols. This unified approach across all levels of education underscores the government’s prioritization of health and education continuity during the ongoing challenges.
