In a critical development reflecting Pakistan’s diplomatic stance, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has expressed Pakistan’s readiness to contribute positively amid the escalating tensions in the Gulf region. This statement came during separate telephone conversations with two of the region’s most influential leaders: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The discussions took place in the evening, underscoring the urgency and gravity of the unfolding situation.

The Prime Minister unequivocally condemned the recent surge in regional hostilities triggered by Israel’s aggressive attack on Iran. This assault was swiftly followed by unfortunate missile strikes targeting other Gulf nations, including the United Arab Emirates. Shehbaz Sharif articulated his deep concern over these developments, highlighting the potential for further destabilization in a region already fraught with complex geopolitical challenges. He invoked the spiritual significance of the ongoing Holy Month of Ramadan, praying that its blessings might usher in peace and tranquility amid the turmoil.

During his conversation with the Saudi Crown Prince, the Prime Minister reassured the Saudi leadership of Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity and support. He emphasized that Pakistan stands firmly alongside its Saudi brethren, not only in times of peace but also during moments of crisis. This commitment reflects the historically close ties and shared interests between the two countries, which have long cooperated on political, economic, and security fronts. The Prime Minister’s message was clear: Pakistan will remain a steadfast ally of Saudi Arabia through all future challenges.

Earlier in the day, Shehbaz Sharif had taken to the social media platform X to publicly affirm Pakistan’s full backing of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states during this precarious period. He reiterated Pakistan’s willingness to play a constructive and proactive role in fostering regional stability. His message resonated with a broader call for calm and reconciliation, hoping that the spirit of Ramadan would inspire leaders and citizens alike to seek peaceful resolutions.

In a parallel conversation, the Prime Minister also spoke with Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi. He condemned the recent missile attacks on the UAE and other Gulf countries with equal firmness. Recognizing the strong and enduring brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE, Shehbaz Sharif assured the Emirati leadership of Pakistan’s full support during this challenging time. The Prime Minister’s words underscored the depth of the bilateral relationship, which has withstood various tests over the years and continues to grow stronger.

Moreover, the Prime Minister expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of a Pakistani citizen in the missile strike on Abu Dhabi. He extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving family, highlighting the human cost of the conflict and the personal impact on Pakistani nationals living abroad. This gesture of empathy further reinforced Pakistan’s commitment to protecting its citizens and maintaining close ties with Gulf countries.

As tensions remain high in the Gulf, Pakistan’s leadership appears determined to navigate this crisis with a balanced approach, advocating for peace while standing firmly with its regional partners. The Prime Minister’s diplomatic outreach to Saudi Arabia and the UAE signals Islamabad’s intent to play a constructive role in mitigating conflict and promoting stability in a region critical to Pakistan’s strategic and economic interests.
