Abid Sher Ali Criticizes KP Government for Failing to Enforce National Action Plan

Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Senator Abid Sher Ali publicly criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Wednesday, asserting that it has failed to properly implement the National Action Plan (NAP). The National Action Plan, a crucial strategy aimed at combating terrorism and extremism across Pakistan, remains unexecuted in KP, Abid Sher Ali’s remarks during a televised discussion.

During his appearance on a prominent current affairs program, Abid Sher Ali also extended his wishes for the swift recovery of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, should he be facing any health challenges. He emphasized that the PML-N maintains a respectful stance towards anyone’s health issues, contrasting this with what he described as the PTI’s tendency to mock opponents’ illnesses. He further insisted that the PTI leader is not genuinely unwell, challenging the narrative being promoted by PTI supporters.

Reflecting on the past, Abid Sher Ali recalled the period when former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was incarcerated, noting that meetings with him were heavily restricted. He highlighted that the PML-N does not endorse political victimization, a practice he accused PTI members of engaging in by portraying their leader as ill for political gain. This, he suggested, is part of a broader pattern of manipulation and misinformation.

Turning his attention to the PTI government’s tenure, the PML-N leader alleged that political opponents faced targeted actions and repression. He accused the PTI of orchestrating a widespread campaign of false propaganda and malicious attacks against Pakistan’s state institutions, particularly through social media platforms. This, he argued, has contributed to a deteriorating political climate and undermined public trust in key national bodies.

Abid Sher Ali reiterated his claim that the KP government has neglected its responsibilities under the National Action Plan, which was designed to curb terrorism and restore security. He went further to assert that during the PTI’s administration, individuals affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were released from prisons, a move he implied had serious security repercussions for the country. This allegation underscores ongoing concerns about the handling of counterterrorism efforts in KP and the broader region.

In summary, Abid Sher Ali’s statements reflect deep political divisions and highlight ongoing debates about governance, security, and political conduct in Pakistan. His remarks serve as a pointed critique of the KP government’s performance and the PTI’s political strategies, emphasizing the need for accountability and effective implementation of national security policies.
