A Pakistan Air Force officer lost his life after bravely intervening to rescue a woman from an alleged abduction attempt on Ninth Avenue in Islamabad. The incident occurred when Group Captain Asim Tariq noticed a motorcyclist forcibly pulling the woman’s hand.

Stopping his vehicle, the officer confronted the suspect, which allowed the woman to escape to the opposite side of the road. Following a heated exchange, the suspect opened fire on Group Captain Asim, who sustained critical injuries and later died from his wounds. The assailant fled the scene immediately after the shooting.

The woman informed authorities that the suspect was her colleague who initially offered to give her a ride to work. However, she claimed he diverted the route and tried to take her to an undesired location. She credited the timely intervention of the PAF officer for her escape.

Law enforcement agencies have launched an extensive search operation to apprehend the suspect. Group Captain Asim is survived by his wife, a daughter, and a son.

In a significant development, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi expressed sorrow over the officer’s martyrdom and extended condolences to his family. The minister requested a detailed report from the Islamabad Inspector General of Police and ordered authorities to ensure the swift arrest of the suspect. He also emphasized that justice must be delivered to the martyr’s family without delay.
