Punjab is preparing to initiate the next critical phase of its national polio eradication campaign, set to commence on April 13. This large-scale effort is part of the broader national strategy to eliminate polio from Pakistan, a goal that remains a top public health priority for the government and health officials.

In a significant development, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir reaffirmed the government’s dedication to this cause, stating that achieving a polio-free Pakistan is a collective objective shared by all stakeholders. This statement underscores the ongoing commitment to intensify vaccination efforts and ensure the disease is eradicated from the region.

The campaign will target more than 22.3 million children across Punjab, who will receive polio drops as part of this extensive vaccination drive. This represents one of the largest immunization efforts in the province’s recent history, reflecting the scale and urgency of the fight against polio. Health authorities are employing targeted strategies to reach every child, especially in hard-to-access areas, to maximize the campaign’s impact.

The launch event took place at Lahore Town Hall, highlighting the importance of coordinated action among provincial health departments and local communities. This gathering symbolized the unified approach required to combat polio effectively and demonstrated the readiness of health workers and volunteers to carry out the vaccination campaign across Punjab.
