Michael Patrick, an actor recognized for his role in Game of Thrones, died at the age of 35 after a courageous fight against a rare muscular disorder called Motor Neuron Disease (MND). He received his diagnosis in February 2023, a condition known for its progressive and incurable nature.

In a heartfelt announcement on April 8, his wife Naomi Sheehan shared the news of his passing on Instagram. She revealed that Michael, affectionately called Mick, passed away peacefully at the Northern Ireland Hospice, where he had been admitted 10 days earlier. Surrounded by family and friends, his final moments were marked by calm and care from the hospice team.

Motor Neuron Disease is a group of progressive neurological disorders that damage motor neurons, the nerve cells responsible for controlling voluntary muscle activities such as walking, breathing, speaking, and swallowing, the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke.

Naomi praised Michael’s enduring positive spirit, which left a profound impact on everyone who knew him. She described him as an inspiration not only during his illness but throughout his life, highlighting his joyful nature, abundant spirit, and infectious laughter. She affectionately referred to him as a “titan of a ginger-haired man.”

Expressing gratitude for the support received over the years, Naomi concluded her message with a quote beloved by Mick from Brendan Behan: “The most important things to do in the world are to get something to eat, something to drink and somebody to love you.” She urged others to embrace this simple wisdom: “So, don’t overthink it. Eat. Drink. Love.”
