Wilson Bethel Teases Bullseye Special After The Punisher Project

Wilson Bethel has sparked excitement among Marvel fans by expressing interest in a standalone special centered on his character Bullseye. This comes ahead of the highly anticipated release of The Punisher: One Last Kill, scheduled for May 12, 2026. The actor’s enthusiasm suggests Marvel Studios has developed a character compelling enough to warrant further exploration beyond the main series.

In a recent interview, Bethel responded to questions about a Bullseye special with the phrase, “From your lips to God’s ears, man,” signaling his eagerness to reprise the role of the deadly assassin. This aligns with Marvel’s current trend of producing character-driven specials, such as Jon Bernthal’s upcoming Punisher project, which focus on deeper storytelling within the MCU.

Benjamin Poindexter, aka Bullseye, stands out among MCU villains due to his extraordinary precision, capable of turning everyday objects like knives or coins into lethal weapons. In Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, Bethel described Bullseye as “a man on a righteous mission,” highlighting the character’s complex moral code. Additionally, his nearly indestructible physiology is enhanced by Cognium (or Carbonadium) steel, which was used to repair his spine after paralysis.

The character’s psychological depth is a major draw. Unlike typical assassins, Poindexter operates with a distorted sense of conviction, making him a fascinating subject for a dedicated special. Such a project could explore his journey from a disgraced FBI agent to the Kingpin’s favored enforcer, offering a nuanced look at themes of power, control, and redemption that a main series might not fully accommodate.

A focused special would allow for concentrated character development without detracting from the primary storyline. Bethel’s portrayal has been praised for adding complexity to what could otherwise be a one-dimensional villain. The special presentation format, with its concise 60-minute runtime, is ideal for blending intense action with moral ambiguity.

Marvel Studios appears to be leveraging this format to broaden the MCU’s narrative scope. The Punisher: One Last Kill, arriving on May 12, 2026, is positioned as a Phase Six project aimed at deeper character exploration. Its release coincides with the finale of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, creating a strategic storytelling synergy.

A Bullseye special would tap into the audience’s growing interest in villain-centric stories. Viewers increasingly seek to understand anti-heroes like Bullseye and the Punisher, rather than simply witnessing their defeat. These specials are perceived less as corporate expansion and more as premium content driven by meaningful narrative development.
