The Saudi Center for Competitiveness and Business has launched a digital verification service for registered online shops through the Tawakkalna national super app. Consumers across Saudi Arabia can use it to check that commercial digital platforms are registered.
The centre said the service lets shoppers confirm that stores meet regulations and are reliable before they make any purchase. Integration with the system also gives shoppers assurance that an online shop holds current legal documentation and follows Saudi commercial law.
How the Tawakkalna verification service works
Online shoppers can check a store’s registration status within the Tawakkalna application. The centre said this should reduce exposure to risks from fake or unverified online shops.
Aims for consumer protection and digital trust
The service supports the centre’s ongoing work to ease business setup, digitise administrative processes and strengthen consumer protection laws. The centre said it is expected to improve consumer trust and digital safety, which could help Saudi Arabia rise in rankings of the world’s best economies and digital economies.
The initiative was described as a major milestone in protecting and supporting the kingdom’s growing e-commerce market. With retail sales expanding rapidly under Vision 2030, the centre said embedding commercial validation in popular platforms such as Tawakkalna supports a trusted online shopping experience.
