Pakistan Allocates Rs5 Billion for ATC System Upgrades at Karachi and Lahore Airports

Pakistan has approved an allocation exceeding Rs5 billion to upgrade air traffic control (ATC) systems at the country’s two busiest airports, Karachi and Lahore. This significant investment aims to modernize the existing infrastructure, ensuring enhanced safety and operational efficiency in air traffic management. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to improving aviation standards and accommodating increasing passenger and flight volumes.

The Karachi and Lahore airports serve as major hubs for both domestic and international flights, making the upgrade crucial for managing airspace congestion and reducing delays. Modern ATC technology will enable better coordination between pilots and controllers, minimizing risks and improving response times during emergencies. This move aligns with global trends where aviation authorities prioritize technological advancements to meet rising air traffic demands.

In a significant development for Pakistan’s civil aviation sector, the funding boost is expected to attract more airlines and increase passenger confidence in the safety of air travel. Meanwhile, the upgrades will likely contribute to economic growth by facilitating smoother logistics and tourism. The project underscores the strategic importance of Karachi and Lahore airports in the national and regional aviation network.
