The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has unveiled three feeder bus routes that connect passengers to Al Dhaid Etihad Rail Station. The move supports the government’s planned launch of the Etihad Rail passenger service. Travellers across the UAE can now plan journeys that combine bus and train travel.
The routes, named ER1, ER2 and ER3, are designed to link Al Dhaid station with several locations within the emirate, including the Al Madam, Al Saja’a and Al Jubail bus stations. The authority describes the service as an essential public transport option for residents and visitors using the new rail network.
Journey times and departures on the three routes
Each route serves a different part of the emirate, with varying travel times and timetables.
- ER1 (Al Madam to Al Dhaid): The estimated travel time is about one hour, with stops in between serving north and south corridors along the route.
- ER2 (Al Saja’a to Al Dhaid): A rapid service with an average duration of 43 minutes between Al Dhaid station and Al Saja’a Bus Station.
- ER3 (Al Jubail to the rail station): The journey takes approximately one hour and 42 minutes, connecting central Sharjah with the rail station.
Departures from Al Dhaid for ER3 are scheduled at 6:40 a.m., 9:50 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2:50 p.m., 5:50 p.m. and 8 p.m. ER2 departs from Al Dhaid station between 6:40 a.m. and 8:55 p.m., with services running throughout the day.
Integrated transport aims to ease road congestion
The new feeder routes are another significant step towards giving every person in Sharjah easy access to the country’s high-speed rail network. Transport authorities point out that linking public transport services reduces congestion on the roads.
They also say integration encourages sustainable travel and reduces dependence on private cars.
