ISLAMABAD: Pakistani troops are currently deployed in Saudi Arabia across various capabilities and domains, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director-General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated on Wednesday. When asked about the presence of Pakistani personnel in Saudi Arabia as part of the Makkah alliance, Lt Gen Chaudhry emphasized that Pakistani forces have been stationed there for decades.
He noted that the Makkah alliance did not arise suddenly but is rooted in deep diplomatic, political, military, and people-to-people relations among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye. “Pakistani troops, in multiple capabilities and domains, are already there,” the ISPR DG affirmed.
This announcement follows a recent agreement between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye to promptly implement their collective defense commitments, including the rapid deployment of agreed military forces and capabilities in Saudi Arabia. This decision was made during an emergency meeting of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement held in Riyadh on Monday, as outlined in a joint statement from Pakistan’s Foreign Office.
The three nations agreed that deployments would proceed under approved arrangements and comply with their respective national laws. These measures aim to enhance military readiness, integration, and collective defense capacity. The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, signed in August by Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye, stipulates that an armed attack against one member is considered an attack against all, reinforcing their commitment to mutual defense.
