The Pakistan Navy has successfully intercepted narcotics valued at approximately $96 million during two separate counter-narcotics operations in the Arabian Sea. These operations were carried out by Pakistan Navy Ship YARMOOK while deployed far from the Pakistani coastline, demonstrating the navy’s extended operational reach and vigilance in the region.
During the missions, two dhows were stopped and thoroughly searched, leading to the recovery of around 850 kilograms of ice and 2,000 kilograms of hashish or cannabis hidden within concealed compartments on board the vessels. The substantial haul was confiscated and is now in the custody of authorities who will oversee its proper disposal and initiate legal proceedings against those involved.
These successful operations underscore the Pakistan Navy’s ongoing dedication to maintaining maritime security and combating illicit trafficking in the Arabian Sea. The navy’s sustained presence and proactive measures play a crucial role in regional efforts to disrupt drug smuggling networks and ensure safer seas.
