Bayern Munich were held to a 3-3 draw by Viking in the Champions League on Tuesday. The Norwegian champions equalised late through Herman Haugen, who scored after Michael Olise had been sent off.
Bayern trailed 2-0 at half-time, after goals from Gianni Stensness and Peter Christiansen. Harry Kane scored twice and set up another to give the German side a 3-2 lead, but Olise was dismissed inside a minute. He received a second yellow card for dissent after throwing the ball at an opponent’s face.
Viking’s fast start and Kane’s response
Viking were ahead inside the first minute and a quarter. Stensness headed in an outswinging corner after 72 seconds to give the hosts a shock lead. Bayern were already reeling from conceding the fastest goal in Bundesliga history in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Augsburg.
Bayern pressed hard but struggled to find a way through, with Kane twice heading straight into the arms of Viking goalkeeper Arild Ostbo. Viking then broke quickly and doubled their advantage after 38 minutes, when Christiansen finished off a slick move.
Bayern got back into the game when Konrad Laimer was fouled in the box just after the break. Kane took the penalty, sending the ball into the bottom right corner, past Ostbo. On the hour, Kane outjumped his marker to head in a Joshua Kimmich cross and level the score.
A Diaz effort was ruled out for offside a minute later, but the Colombian benefited from a brilliant Kane chip ten minutes on. Kane lofted a ball to Laimer, whose saved shot rebounded cleanly into Diaz’s path, and Bayern moved ahead.

Olise’s dismissal and Viking’s late equaliser
Olise was booked for a foul and then picked up a second yellow after throwing the ball directly at Viking captain Zlatko Tripic’s face, in full view of the referee. That left Bayern a man down with 16 minutes remaining.
Viking kept pushing forward, and Haugen headed in at the far post in the 90th minute to secure a memorable draw for the hosts.
Kane said on Amazon Prime: “But the red card changed everything.” He added: “[Olise] will be gutted and he has to take responsibility for it. It was a mistake, and mistakes happen.”
Kompany told reporters: “It was our own fault.” He added: “this red card was super dumb … You can see in (Michael’s) eyes that he’s sorry about it and that he regrets letting the team down.”
Kane’s scoring streak and Arsenal clash
Kane scored for the ninth straight Champions League match, equalling a club record set by Robert Lewandowski. He is two behind the record of 11 set by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Olise will miss next week’s clash with English champions Arsenal in Munich because of the red card. Kane said the result was a shame because Bayern have important games ahead.
