Mohamed Salah has established a fresh mark in Turkish top-flight football, becoming the first player to register 10 goal contributions in his opening seven Super Lig appearances for Trabzonspor. The Egyptian forward’s assist helped his side beat Samsunspor 3-0 on Saturday, and the feat stands as a league record for any player.
Salah now has seven goals and three assists from seven matches, a start that has highlighted his impact since moving from Liverpool.
From free agent to Istanbul arrival
The 34-year-old signed a two-year contract with the Turkish club in August, a transfer that was viewed as a surprise at the time. He had been without a club after leaving Anfield at the end of last season, and supporters crowded around him when he arrived in Istanbul.
Early season form and Galatasaray hat-trick
Salah made his competitive debut as a substitute in the season opener, which ended 1-1 against Kasimpasa. About a month later, he scored a hat-trick and set up another goal in a 4-0 home win over defending champions Galatasaray, inflicting the Istanbul side’s first defeat of the campaign. Trabzonspor, seven-time Turkish champions, finished third last season.
