More than 1.1 million ticket applications were submitted during the opening weekend of ballot registrations for the Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, organisers announced on Tuesday. Over 320,000 fans have registered for the ticket ballot, which remains open until November 21, for the tournament co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

The India-Pakistan match has generated the greatest demand, attracting upwards of 110,000 ticket applications. South Africa’s game against India has received more than 92,000 applications, while the India versus Australia fixture has drawn over 86,000 submissions.

ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta highlighted the significance of the response, stating that receiving one million ticket applications within just over 48 hours of opening the ballot demonstrates the tournament’s global appeal and stature.

The 14-team tournament is scheduled to take place across the three southern African nations from October 2 to November 21, 2027.

the schedule released by the International Cricket Council (ICC), Pakistan could face their arch-rivals India twice if both teams qualify for the Super 7 stage. The two teams are set to meet in the group stage on October 10 at The Wanderers in Johannesburg. A second encounter is planned for November 7 in Cape Town during the Super 7 phase.

There is also the possibility of a third India-Pakistan clash in the knockout rounds if both teams advance to the semi-finals or final, adding further excitement to the tournament’s marquee rivalry.
