A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight scheduled from Dubai to Islamabad experienced a significant delay after a passenger caused damage to an aircraft window while the plane was still on the ground, awaiting departure.
The delay was initially due to the prevailing regional situation, which kept the flight grounded for nearly three and a half hours despite being prepared for takeoff. During this waiting period, passengers were provided with meals.
In a subsequent development, a group of passengers attempted to instigate disorder onboard following the meal service. The cabin crew promptly intervened to manage the situation and prevent further escalation. However, during the disturbance, one of the agitated passengers broke an aircraft window.
Dubai security officials were immediately alerted and responded by detaining those involved in causing the unrest. As a result, the aircraft was grounded for safety and security reasons, and the remaining passengers and crew were relocated to a hotel.
In a significant update, PIA has rescheduled the flight’s departure from Dubai to Islamabad for 11:15 pm on Saturday, ensuring that the journey will proceed after the incident was addressed.
