Pakistan Confirmed as Host for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2028

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially designated Pakistan as the host nation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup scheduled for 2028. This announcement came following a recent ICC board meeting held in India, where several important decisions regarding upcoming international cricket events were finalized.

In a notable development, the ICC declared that any matches involving the Indian women’s cricket team during the 2028 tournament will not be played on Pakistani soil but instead at neutral venues. This decision reflects ongoing considerations related to the complex cricketing relations between the two countries. The move aims to ensure smooth conduct of the tournament while addressing security and diplomatic concerns.

Additionally, the ICC approved a significant change to the schedule of the ICC Women’s Champions Trophy 2027. Initially slated for June and July, the tournament will now take place earlier in the year, from February 14 to 28, 2027. This rescheduling is intended to better align with the international cricket calendar and provide optimal conditions for the participating teams.

Meanwhile, the ICC also announced the suspension of Cricket Canada’s membership due to serious breaches of membership obligations by its board. This suspension highlights the ICC’s commitment to maintaining governance standards among its member boards. These decisions were all part of a comprehensive update issued by the ICC following its board meeting, outlining governance reforms and tournament plans for the coming years.
