New Football Rules for World Cup: Red Cards, VAR Expansion, Time-Wasting Penalties

In a significant development for the upcoming World Cup, several new football regulations will be enforced to improve game integrity and fairness. Players who cover their mouths while communicating will now face red cards, a measure aimed at increasing transparency and preventing covert discussions. This rule change reflects growing concerns over unsportsmanlike conduct and aims to maintain the spirit of fair play throughout the tournament.

Meanwhile, referees will be empowered to award corner kicks as a penalty for time-wasting tactics, a departure from previous disciplinary actions. This adjustment is designed to discourage teams from deliberately delaying the game, thereby maintaining a faster and more engaging pace for spectators. The introduction of this rule highlights the organizers’ commitment to ensuring continuous and dynamic gameplay during the World Cup matches.

Notably, the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology will be broadened, allowing officials to review a wider range of incidents. This expansion is expected to reduce errors and controversial decisions, enhancing the accuracy of refereeing calls. By integrating these changes, the World Cup aims to set new standards in football officiating and uphold the integrity of the sport on the global stage.
