Controversial Trump-Epstein ‘Titanic’ Statue Draws Crowds at National Mall

A striking new statue has recently been installed on the National Mall in Washington, DC, quickly becoming a focal point for visitors and sparking widespread conversation. Created by an anonymous group calling themselves Secret Handshake, the artwork provocatively reimagines a famous scene from the 1997 film Titanic, featuring former President Donald Trump alongside convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This unusual pairing has drawn significant attention, outpacing many traditional historical exhibits in terms of visitor numbers.

The statue is strategically positioned across from the U.S. Capitol, specifically on 3rd Street NW between Madison Drive NW and Jefferson Drive SW. Its placement in such a prominent location ensures it is impossible to overlook for anyone touring the heart of the nation’s capital. The installation depicts Trump and Epstein locked in the iconic bowsprit pose from Titanic, with Trump cast as Jack Dawson, gripping the ship’s railing, while Epstein assumes the role of Rose DeWitt Bukater, arms outstretched behind him. The imagery is deliberately provocative, blending pop culture with a controversial political and criminal narrative.

Entitled “King of the World,” the statue is accompanied by a plaque that offers a satirical commentary on the relationship between the two men. It reads as a darkly humorous tribute to their alleged connection, highlighting themes of extravagant travel, lavish parties, and secretive nude sketches. This ironic framing invites viewers to reflect on the complex and often troubling associations between power, privilege, and scandal. The choice to liken their relationship to the doomed romance of Titanic’s protagonists adds layers of symbolism, suggesting a tragic or ill-fated alliance.

The installation has quickly become a magnet for both tourists and locals, many of whom stop to take photographs and share their impressions on social media. Visitors like Mia, who traveled from Kansas, expressed appreciation for the cleverness of the comparison. She remarked on how the statue effectively captures the juxtaposition of luxury and impending disaster, drawing parallels between the Titanic’s ill-fated voyage and the controversial ties between Trump and Epstein. Such reactions underscore the artwork’s ability to engage the public in a dialogue about history, power, and morality.

Adding to the spectacle, large banners flank the statue, displaying a photograph of Trump and Epstein together, emblazoned with the phrase “Make America safe again.” This ironic slogan further deepens the installation’s critical tone, inviting viewers to question the promises of safety and morality often associated with political rhetoric. For some, the timing of the statue’s appearance offers a moment of levity amid a tense political atmosphere. Lief, a Maryland resident, made a point of visiting during his lunch break, emphasizing how such public art installations provide a welcome distraction and a chance to reflect on current events through satire.

While historians and commentators may debate the accuracy or appropriateness of comparing a luxury ocean liner’s tragic sinking to a decades-long association between a president and a convicted sex offender, the artwork undeniably resonates with many. The anonymous collective behind the piece has succeeded in delivering a bold and unmistakable message about power, scandal, and public perception. Whether viewed as a biting political statement or a clever cultural critique, the “King of the World” statue has firmly established itself as a provocative new landmark on the National Mall.
