Pakistan warned India on Friday that any aggression would be met with a “forceful response”. Islamabad also rejected what it called provocative remarks by Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, which it said amounted to threats of military action against Pakistan.
Singh’s comments came a day after he said any future “terrorist act” originating from Pakistan would draw an even stronger reaction from India. He argued that India’s commitment to peace should not be read as weakness and said the country remained ready to meet security challenges.
Foreign Office spokesperson hits back at India
Speaking at his weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan said the remarks reflected India’s “hegemonic mindset” and posed risks to peace and stability in South Asia. He stressed that Pakistan was fully prepared to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity against any ill-advised aggression.
Pakistan urges India to learn from May clash
The spokesperson said India should take lessons from the military confrontation in May last year, adding that Pakistan had shown its capability and resolve. He said Pakistan’s restraint should not be mistaken for weakness. India, he added, should drop its “belligerent posture and dangerous rhetoric” and act responsibly to secure lasting peace in the region.
