Security forces eliminated eight terrorists during an intelligence-driven operation in North Waziristan. Their hideouts were demolished, and a significant cache of weapons and ammunition was seized.
The operation was initiated following intelligence reports indicating militant presence in the area. During the mission, security personnel carefully dismantled the terrorists’ shelters and recovered a large quantity of arms, ammunition, and related equipment.
Notably, militants attempted to use a mosque as a shield to avoid confrontation. However, the forces exercised restraint to preserve the mosque’s sanctity while conducting the operation.
This action is part of ongoing efforts to dismantle militant strongholds and disrupt the activities of Fitna al-Khawarij in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Meanwhile, tensions remain high along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. The federal government reports continued militant attacks originating from Afghanistan, with allegations of involvement by the Taliban administration.
In a significant development the previous day, the Army thwarted an infiltration attempt by Fitna al-Khawarij militants, reportedly operating under Afghan Taliban supervision, trying to enter the Kurram sector from Afghan posts in Nangarhar and Paktia.
Following this, Afghan Taliban forces allegedly opened fire on Pakistani border posts in the Kurram sector using heavy weapons and mortars. Pakistani forces responded effectively, neutralizing the attacking positions.
On the same day, Pakistani armed forces intercepted and shot down eight drones over Kohat and areas near the Torkham border. These drones had reportedly violated Pakistani airspace and were intercepted by the country’s air defense system.
